David - New York City (July 23)

Staying with Vicki and John was one of my most, if not the most, memorable and special travel experiences. From the breathtaking vistas to the warm and loving hospitality, Vicki and John take every step to ensure their guests are comfortable and happy. Vicki even invited me to help her feed the sheep and pigs in the morning, which was just one of the many highlights of my stay. If you are looking for a true and authentic highland experience, look no further

James and Leanne - Stockton on Tees (Feb/March 2020)

“We booked Near Byre for three nights for our first trip to Skye and couldn’t have picked anywhere more perfect - Vicki & John went above and beyond to make our weekend extra special, and we will definitely be coming back again to enjoy the views, explore the island and feed the animals!! We loved sitting watching the stars go by with the log stove burning, and meeting all the pigs, sheep and of course Bramble the dog and Ness the cat! Near Byre is beautifully furnished, with everything you could need for the perfect trip to the Isle of Skye! We couldn’t recommend a stay here enough!”

Caroline and Edd - London (Feb 2020)

We spent our honeymoon in the Near Byre and it was utterly perfect. The accommodation is finished to an exceptionally high standard - like a luxury hotel suite, with everything you could possibly need and lots of extra thoughtful touches (ie. fancy coffee maker and free homemade cake!). It's an ideal base, whether you're planning to go out adventuring every day or just planning to hunker down in front of the woodburner, with the odd mooch down to the pub. We ate in Michelin-starred restaurants, explored deserted beaches, saw eagles from the bed and watched dramatic storms roll over the Minch from the safety of the fire-side. John and Vicky are lovely people and the perfect hosts, with great tips on how to make the most of a stay on the island. Stay here! And while you're here - eat at the Stein Inn (be sure to make a reservation!), spend some quality time with Lucy and Linus (the resident pigs), keep your eyes peeled on the hill behind for sea eagles and if there's a rainy day, nearby SkyeSkyns is a great spot to while away an hour or so. Or just sit and soak in the beautiful view from the huge windows. Planning our return trip already...”
